We publish the substantive material on this site because our founder believes that contractors, subcontractors, developers, and their advisors are entitled to real information about how contract surety actually works—not marketing platitudes, not artificial-intelligence-generated content, not paraphrased press releases. The corporate structure
The relationship among the three principal entities is straightforward:
- Janus Assurance Re is the parent underwriting entity. It provides the reinsurance and financial guarantee capacity behind bonds issued under the PerformanceBond.com brand.
- Surety One, Inc. is the managing general agency, licensed in all fifty states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Surety One holds the direct producer relationships and is the entity with which contractors and their agents transact.
- PerformanceBond.com is the contract-surety-focused property of the group. Other surety classes—court, license, fidelity, financial guarantee—are handled through Surety One's main site and its specialty portals.
The book
Our founder's book, The Contractor's Guide to Surety Bonds, was written for construction professionals who want a working command of contract surety without having to become surety underwriters themselves. The book covers the entire lifecycle of a contract surety program—prequalification, submission, underwriting, bond issuance, mid-project administration, and claims—with the practical detail that only a senior underwriter with three decades of experience can provide.

Credentials and industry participation
Constantin holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designations from The Institutes, along with the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI), Associate in Insurance Services (AIS), and Associate in Insurance (AINS) designations. He is a Reinsurance Scholar, and holds a Juris Doctor and a Master of Arts. He also holds certificates in Islamic finance from INCEIF and Marifa Academy, reflecting a long-standing professional interest in the international financial guarantee and Shariah-compliant surety markets.
Professional participation includes the Surety and Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP), and the American Bar Association's Section of Tort Trial and Insurance Practice. Our carriers
All bonds issued through PerformanceBond.com are underwritten by carriers appearing on the U.S. Treasury's Circular 570 (the T-List) and rated A- or better by A.M. Best. Carrier assignment is made at the point of bond issuance based on the state, class, and size of the specific obligation.
